So, I have been trying to learn French sign language for a while now.
I’ve tried online courses, books, apps, a bit of Youtube too … and nothing worked.
And so I started to wonder what was the problem and how to fix it. Obviously, motivation seemed to be a big one here since even if I did spend money on the lessons, I still wouldn’t keep up with it.
So before I kept investing anymore money, I wanted to make sure I could find a system that works for me, my motivation and my schedule, too.
And a realistic one, too.
I’ve realised that for me, it was all about making it a habit. You make it a habit to learn the same way it’s a habit for you to go to the gym or to drink a cup of coffee when you wake up.
And then, you built it into your daily routine.
For me, I knew it wouldn’t be more than 5-10 minutes two times a week. I know it doesn’t seem like much but you know what’s better than 0 times a week?
Yep, you guessed that one right. Nada.
All that was left for me to was to find the right time to schedule it and again, it had to be part of a ritual (either morning or evening).
Mornings are not usually my best productive time so I decided to put it into my evening routine. And as I would do it only two times per week, I chose to study on the evenings I finish work early.
Et voilà!
The last thing I am using to track my progress is my learning journey tracker. I created it when I started this new language learning journey and if you are trying to learn something new too, you can download your free tracker here.
